SUSPECT WHO KILLED WIDOW, STABBED 3 KIDS FALL IN CALOOCAN
Following the ultimatum given to authorities by Caloocan City Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri, local police were able to arrest the suspect who killed a widow and stabbed his three children on Monday morning.
The suspect, now detained at the Caloocan City Police Station and facing multiple charges, was identified as Ivan Lou Climaco, 28, a resident of #539 Libis Reparo St., Baesa, Barangay 161, Caloocan.
Meanwhile, Echiverri personally handed the P100,000 reward to the unnamed witness that positively identified the suspect leading to his immediate arrest.
The victim who turned out to be the suspect’s neighbor, Ana Aguilio, 46, did not make it alive to Manila Central University (MCU) after suffering multiple stab wounds. Remaining in critical condition at the same hospital are her children, Justine Anne, 15; Arvin John, 13 and Alfer John, 11, who also sustained stab wounds.
Expenses on Ana’s burial will be shouldered by the Echiverri, who also vowed to help the victims’ family in settling the medical bills of the three hospitalized children.
Information coming from Sr. Supt. Jude Wilson Santos, Caloocan City Police chief, bared that the incident took place at 4:40 a.m. after the suspect forcibly entered the Aguilios’ residence via a window.
Police said that Ana and Arvin John noticed the opened window but remained unaware of Climaco’s presence as they were having coffee in the kitchen. Climaco then appeared out of nowhere and ordered Arvin to go inside the room.
The suspect began stabbing Ana, whose cries for help sent her kids scurrying to her aid but were unfortunately attacked by the armed Climaco.
Climaco then left the victims for dead as he escaped through the very window that he used to access the house. Ana was taken to the hospital but was not saved. Her children remained in critical condition.
Echiverri immediately instructed Caloocan City Police to go after the suspect, who was eventually arrested at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday while waiting for a bus along Camachile, Quezon City.
Climaco had no choice but to own up to the killing after he was positively identified by one of the victims’ relatives who witnessed the crime and accompanied police during their operation.
Echiverri for his part hailed Sr. Supt. Santos and his cops for quickly solving the case, bringing the suspect to justice before he could reportedly go into hiding in Pangasinan.
