Caloocan City Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri yesterday urged the public to participate and enjoy the city’s four-day celebration of “Wow Caloocan” from September 16 to 19 at the City Plaza in A. Mabini Street.

According to Echiverri, relative to the celebration of Tourism Week, the city’s Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office has prepared an assortment of “exhibitions, expositions and enterprises” that will appeal to every member of the family.

“The city government also intends to bring families and communities closer together through these programmed activities,” Echiverri said.

The festivities will kick off with the opening of the “Caloocan Trade Expo 2008” on September 16, which will showcase a variety of Caloocan-manufactured products made available in wholesale or retail.

And in order to create opportunities for additional income, there will be daily livelihood demonstrations on food processing and handicrafts by trainers of the Labor and Industrial Relations Office.

Moreover, during nighttime, the public will be entertained through live shows and performances by Caloocan’s local talents.

On September 17, Echiverri said the city will hold the talent night for Ms. Gay Caloocan 2008.

This will be followed by a fashion show on the 18th featuring Ms. Caloocan winners and candidates dressed in “Filipino-inspired creations” by the city’s top caliber fashion designers.

The fashion show will highlight the city’s celebration of the “Linggo ng Kasuotang Pilipno.”

Meanwhile, on September 19, the mayor said the public is once again invited to witness the Coronation Night for Ms. Gay 2008.

For her part, tourism chief Marilou San Buena Ventura said in line with the Tourism Week, their office is also preparing to hold an “exhibit of what Caloocan has to offer” at the SM Mall of Asia with other participants from the National Capital Region.
