Caloocan City Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri yesterday reorganized
the City Development Council (CDC) that will formulate socio-economic
development programs for the city.
According to Echiverri, there is a need to strengthen the
composition of the CDC due to the recent appointment and election of
its new members in their respective position.
Echiverri also stressed the importance of having a comprehensive
multi-sector development plan based on Section 106 of the Local
Government Code.
Under Executive Order No. 10-08, Echiverri will lead the CDC as
chairman with the 188 barangay chairmen and representatives from the 75
non-government organizations in the city as members.
The CDC Executive Committee meanwhile will be composed of City
Councilor Dante Prado, Liga ng mga Barangay president Coun. Ricojudge
“RJ” Echiverri, City Administrator Russel Ramirez, Secretary to the
Mayor Kristine Martinez-Abustan, City Planning officer Aurora Ciego,
City Budget officer Jesusa Garcia, Antonio Ong Hua of the Caloocan City
Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Inc., and representatives from
various NGOs as members.
Among the duties and functions of the CDC will be to formulate
long-term, medium-term and annual socio-economic development plans,
policies and public investment programs for the city.
The CDC will also create local investment incentives in order to promote private investments and stimulate the local businesses.
On the other hand, barangay chairmen and NGO representatives lauded
Echiverri for their active role in the CDC in the creation and
implementation of socio-development programs of the city.
