AS PART of the city government's program to uplift the social and
economic condition of residents, particularly of unemployed mothers,
Caloocan Mayor Enrico "Recom" Echiverri ordered the conduct of a series
of free livelihood trainings in the barangays.
According to Echiverri, the free livelihood training would provide
residents with opportunities to earn extra income, and as a way of
buffering the effect of higher prices of basic goods.
Target po ng ating programa ang mga inang nahihirapang mag-budget ng
kanilang pang-araw-araw na gastusin subalit may sobra-sobrang oras para
alagaan ang kanilang mga anak,†Echiverri said.
Echiverri added it is imperative we strengthen livelihood
development by institutionalizing it and wholeheartedly involving the
residents of every barangay.
The Labor and Industrial Relations Office through its Caloocan City
Manpower Training Center conducted the week-long livelihood training in
Barangays 28, 33 and 34 where residents learned important tips and
techniques in food technology, meat processing and detergent making
among others.
For his part, LIRO chief Dante Esteban reiterated their program
would be doubly effective if residents would come together and organize
themselves into a group just like what the Nagkakaisang Kababaihan of
Barangays 33 and 34 did earlier.
Esteban added that Mayor Echiverri also directed him to extend
assistance to the enterprising mothers by hooking them up with
reputable suppliers and dealers that would readily accommodate their
newfound business venture.
