CALOOCAN City Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri is providing job
opportunities to 850 youths through the Special Program for Employment
of Students (SPES) this summer.
According to Echiverri, the SPES program will run from May 5-27 and
would allow poor but deserving students, age 15-25, to earn minimum
wage by working for the city government.
Echiverri said the summer job would allow students to fully utilize
their vacation break by learning about local governance and public
administration through firsthand experience.
The mayor urged the residents to immediately secure their application
form from the Public Employment Services Office under the Labor and
Industrial Relations Office, while the interview is still on-going.
Applications will also be considered on a first come first served basis.
For his part, LIRO chief Dante Esteban said all applicants should bring
a photocopy of their birth certificates and one recent 1 x 1 colored
picture as part of their requirements.
“High schools students must also bring their Form 138, or a photocopy
that is certified by their school principal, for the 3rd grading
period. While college students must have with them their original
registration card and class cards with final grades” Esteban said.
“Applicants should bring a copy of their parents’ Income Tax Return
(2006 or 2007) if employed; and if not, they should present a DSWD
Indigency Certificate and a certification from their barangay chairman
that recognize that both parents are jobless,” he added.
